Yes Bay Lodge Fishing Report - July 31st, 2009

Friday July 31st, 2009 – Fishing Report

The salmon were there for the taking all day. Limits on all boats of nice pinks, chum and some nice silvers. The halibut fishing picked up a little today as well, with a couple smaller ones hitting the dock.

Great day of sunny warm weather fishing in SE Alaska at Yes Bay Lodge.

Enjoy the pictures,

Yes Bay Lodge Fishing Report - July 30th, 2009

Thursday July 30th – Fishing Report

4 boats fished today – 2 only fished the afternoon the other 2 were out all day. Fish were still biting today with all the salmon you could want, although most were being fairly selective and leaving the darker pinks and chum to go off and continue to spawn. Several silvers were brought in as well as a nice Sockeye, which is rare to catch on boat as they normally eat plankton and jellyfish. Purely a defensive strike I am sure, but very good bright red meat and good eating!!

No halibut although several boats spent some time trying to entice them to bite…

Enjoy the pictures of another fine day of fishing at Yes Bay Lodge in SE Alaska!

HOT Weather – bright sunny and over 80 degrees…

Neets Bay hatchery Bears

Wednesday July 29th – Crew Trip to Neets Bay Hatchery for the bear watch!!

Took several crew members to see the bears at Neets Bay Hatchery. Only one bear managed to show, however, he was pretty cooperative for picture taking. It was a great day – too hot – over 80 degrees today and felt like 100 in the sun!! But a good day to take a walk around the hatchery and enjoy the bears and millions of salmon!

Good time was had by all, enjoy the pictures,

Capt Jim

Yes Bay Lodge - Fishing Report - July 29th, 2009

Wednesday July29th – Fishing Report for Yes Bay Lodge

Three boats fished today and all did really well with salmon although the halibut fishing was slow according to those who fished for them. The salmon fishing remained HOT with limits for anyone who wanted one. Plenty of pinks, chum a few silvers and even a nice King was brought in.

Good Fishing today at Yes Bay Lodge in SE Alaska!!

Enjoy the pictures,

Capt Jim

BTW – I took some crew down to the hatchery in Neets Bay to see if there were any bears around and we managed to find one very cooperative bear to take some photos of.

I will be posting a few on my blog later this evening for anyone interested and also in a gallery on my smug mug page.

Yes Bay Lodge Fishing Report - July 28th, 2009

Tuesday July 28th, 2009 – Fishing Report

Three boats fished with guests today as well as one crew boat this morning. The crew boat was specifically looking for King salmon and/or Silver salmon and managed 1 silver which they farmed!

Customer fishing had better luck – with good catches by all three boats. Most were down to limiting their catches to quality fish, however, one boat caught their limit on their first day of fishing.

Good fishing remains for Pinks and some silvers and an occasional King

Enjoy the pictures of another good catch at Yes bay Lodge in SE Alaska,

Yes Bay Lodge Fishing Report - July 27th, 2009

Monday – July 27th, 2009 – Fishing Report

Only two boats out today, the Lodge has thinned out a little, although more guests arrived this afternoon and several more later this week, when the Lodge fills up again.

One group elected to dodge the picture today, so we only have Slice and his family. They had a wonderful sunny day to fish and it was very warm, over 75 today!! Blue skies and sunshine and some decent fishing.

Enjoy the pictures,

Capt Jim

Day Off!!

Monday July 27th, 2009!!

Well I had a day off today so it was laundry day, clean my room and get some things done around the Lodge. I took a few minutes to walk around the Lodge and take some pictures of some of the flowers which are in bloom.

Looks like I’ll have a couple days off, so I will be getting some desk work done and begin to work on some marketing projects started for next year.

Anyway, enjoy the pictures, it was part of a small project I am beginning which is a “Blurb” book for this year – a “Crew at Yes Bay Lodge 2009”…should be interesting, but more importantly I am beginning to work on a table top book recounting my last three years here at the Lodge and some of the beautiful pictures from the past three years.

Should be fun…

More later,

Capt Jim

Yes Bay Lodge Fishing Report - July 26th, 2009

Fishing Report for Sunday July 26th 2009 – Yes Bay Lodge

The fishing for salmon remained strong again today with plenty of salmon available for the taking. Most boats caught their limit with a few really nice bright Kings caught as well. My boat even managed to catch a sockeye trolling which is very rare. It was a nice bright fish and I mistook it for a silver, until it hit the cleaning table. We also caught a nice silver and a bunch of real bright pinks.

The afternoon slowed for us as we looked for halibut but they were not to be found..at least on my boat, Axman managed a couple nice ones, but the rest of us will have to wait until tomorrow.

Still good fishing here at Yes Bay…

Enjoy the pictures,

Capt. Jim

A better day today than yesterday – the fish were cooperating much more today. Salmon bite was on again and most boats managed a limit with even a couple kings caught, although most were pinks, chum and a few silvers!!

The afternoon managed some halibut for most boats, so all in all another good day of fishing at Yes Bay Lodge in SE Alaska!!
