July 11th - Good Fishing gets better!

There was a real good salmon bite this morning and all of the boats who were in the right spot caught plenty, with several boats getting their limit or close to it. The bottom fishing slowed a little today with smaller halibut but the big yellow eyes continued to hit the dock!!

Light rain and cloudy most of the day with light winds, a little bumpy this morning with the large tide, but it calmed down later in the day.

Here are the pictures for today!!

And from a few days ago, an old friend of Yes Bay Lodge stopped by on his boat the Hot Ruddered Bum to have a fish processed and stay a few days in the back bay with his guests from Texas aboard. On their trip to Yes Bay they fished a little for some halibut and managed to hook this beast!!! A beautiful 175 pounder!!

July 8th - Great Weather and more tough fishing!

The salmon bite was frustrating today - fish jumping everywhere and hardly a one would bite...I trolled over 6 hours and only had two small shakers (undersized King Salmon), oh and one shark!!

But the bottom fishing for halibut and rock fish kept us alive, although there were a couple King salmon that hit the dock, including a real nice 24 pounder!!

Here are the pictures of today's catch!!

Hopefully we'll get some rain tomorrow and cool off a little so the fishing improves!!

Another fine day at Yes Bay Lodge in SE Alaska!!

July 7th - Great weather day and hard fishing!!

The weather could not have been better, blue skies, sunshine and warm. Made it up to 77 degrees today so they say, but it sure was warm in the hot sunshine. Very bright clear blue skies!!

The fishing today was hard work, those who worked at it were able to manage some fish, lord knows they were jumping all around us all day, but for some reason the salmon weren't chewing. We caught a few, but it was few and far between bites!! Most switched to the bottom and we were rewarded with some nice rock fish, including a real nice yelloweye and of course some very nice halibut!!

On with the pictures!!

All in all it was another great day at Yes Bay!!
