August 31st - Fishing Report

I think my guest summed today up pretty well, he said, "It just don't get any better than today!" The weather was perfect, little overcast and foggy this morning but very calm, then the sun came out, burned off the fog and it got warm and clear all day with little or no wind. Had some tide wind this afternoon and there was a slight chop on the way in, but comfortable.

The big news was we had a great afternoon Silver salmon bite with a nice assortment of good sized silvers hitting the dock, daily limits are right around the corner if this keeps up.

The pictures from today's catch!

And a little crew fishing today - our dear Cassandra departs for home tomorrow and Snapper Al and Big John took her out for a going away fishing trip and she landed a very nice 19 plus pound king and a 13 pound yellow eye. You will be missed Cassandra and a job well done in the office! Stay in touch with your Yes Bay Family!

August 30th - Fishing Report

Another weather change today - flat dead calm this morning for most of the morning a little overcast then the sun came out, it got warm a little afternoon breeze and tide change for a bumpy ride home, but not bad at all. Most of the day was just perfect fishing weather and the fish cooperated for most of the day although the afternoon salmon bite for silvers was pretty slow. But there was a nice morning bite and some nice silvers hit the dock a few Kings and some halibut and rock fish. Only three boats fishing today, bunch of people arrive tomorrow.

Here are the catch photos!

August 29th - Fishing Report

Weather change continued with very hard rain all night long and early morning, but it let up right after we started fishing this morning, warmed up and was a very calm and pleasant day out there. Good News for the silver fans, they are starting to show in some numbers and decent sizes as well with a 13 plus pounder on the dock today. They are still a little spotty, but those who persevere will get a fair amount. Some Kings hit the dock some rock fish and some decent halibut, it was a good fishing day at Yes Bay.

Pictures tell the story!

August 28th - Fishing Report

Well, we got our weather change and it rained all night last night, all day today and it is raining now and looks like it may rain all night. It was not real windy today so fishing was pretty easy, we had some tide change wind and rough water for about an hour out front, but it was manageable. Fishing was good today and promises to be even better tomorrow and beyond, because there are some real nice silvers jumping all over, a few hit the dock today along with an assortment of Kings a couple pinks some real nice halibut and various species of rock fish including a couple real nice big yellow eyes!

In spite of the rain, it was a good fishing day!

Here are the catch pictures for the day!

August 27th - Fishing Report

Weather held for most of the day, well all of the fishing day. It was glass calm this morning and beautiful out, overcast and cloudy all day with a slight drizzle on the way in, but good all day. This evening some wind came up and a weather change is in store, we'll see what happens tomorrow.

Decent fishing day nothing fast and furious but some real nice fish hit the dock with some silvers showing up this morning and some kings this afternoon, throw in some halibut and rock fish and it was a good catch day!

Today's Pictures!

There is a good story along with my boat today. We caught and released a very nice slot limit halibut which weighed easily 85 pounds. It was a good fight and a wonderful catch by my happy customer, since it was one of his Alaska Goals!

August 26th - Fishing Report???

Large group left today and so there was very little fishing done today. Mostly cleaning, restocking boats, fixing gear and one sad thing.

The Viking - the best daggone dockworker ever at Yes Bay headed back to finish his school...it was a sad day at Yes Bay - he didn't want to go and we didn't want to see him leave, but everyone was on the dock to bid him farewell. The good news is he promised to return next year unless the girl he is meeting at 1:00 tomorrow afternoon changes his mind, we hope not!

See you next season Viking!

August 25th - Fishing Report

This group had the luxury this year of very good weather and their last day today was the highlight...semi-clear skies, warm high 60's, not wind and no rain...and this afternoon was a great fishing afternoon, although a little slower this morning.

One lonely silver all day a couple pinks and this afternoon a good King bite with a couple over 20 pounds and a few more in the high teens...add in some nice rock fish, a few big yelloweye and a couple halibut and they had a great fishing day! This group comes every year and it is always a pleasure!

The pictures show the catch!
