July 31st - Fishing Report

Weather change - you might want to say it rained a little bit today, ALL DAY! We probably had about 4 inches of rain today or more...and it got colder and this afternoon and evening the wind came up. Hopefully it will blow through tonight and it will be a little better tomorrow.

Fishing was a little tougher today due to the weather, but still a nice assortment of salmon hit the dock as well as some good bottom fish!

Here are some pictures of the catch from today!

July 30th - Fishing Report

Calm winds and some rain around most of the day, but it was not bad out and the boats managed to avoid the rain most of the time fishing. The salmon are around as well as some nice halibut and rock fish...we had an assortment today with some customers fishing and some crew enjoying their time off!

Here are the pictures!

July 26th - Non - Fishing Report

Short report tonight and no fish pictures. Three boats went out with some day guests from the Wilderness Discovery Cruise Ship and it was all catch and release. They had a fine day for it, with beautiful weather and a good assortment of fish. All three boats did well with mulitple salmon including a couple Kings, a nice silver, a couple nice chum and some pinks. Also they got some bottom fishing in with a decent sized halibut released and some rock fish.

We have a nice two day break without guests, this is pretty much planned every year, gives the crew time for some fum, Lodge gets a complete cleaning, fishing gear gets repaired and ready for the rest of the season. A big group of crew is making the hike up to Lake Shelokum and the hot spring tomorrow!

July 23rd - Fishing Report

It was a fine day at Yes Bay today weather wise, calm winds, overcast skies, but no rain and it was pretty warm out..shirt sleeve weather! Light load in the Lodge right now, so it was a day to go get logs, clean the boats, fix our tackle up and get ready for the next wave of guests in a few days.

Crew day fishing for Heidi...she was bound and determined to go find one of these late Kings, so Big John and Batman took her out for a little fishing this morning.

She came through landing a real nice 30 pounder! 30.1 to be exact!

Slammer went out and returned with a couple real nice rock fish...but no picture!

July 22nd - Fishing Report

The weather continued to cooperate, we have been lucky so far this year, decent weather most days and best of all a great King season with some nice sized bright spawners still arriving!! Amazing, latest we have seen spawners arriving in many years!! They are spotty, but if you fish hard they are there. On the contrary we have seen fewer pink and chum salmon on the cleaning table.

Today it was a smorgasbord of fish with some great catches of rock fish, a few nice kings a couple pinks and some nice small halibut.

A large group left this morning so only three boats fishing today, we have a little break now before we get busy again...so a little R&R for most!

Here are today's pictures...

July 21st - Fishing Report

The weather continued to cooperate in fact it was the ideal SE Alaska fishing day, with light rain on and off all day, calm winds and a little cool, but never cold. It was actually quite pleasant and the fishing was pretty good, with most people gathering a large assortment of both salmon and bottom fish!

Here are the pictures of today's catch!

July 20th - Fishing Report

The day started out very nice - some serious fog early then blue skies and sunshine through the better part of the morning, then some wind came up and it got pretty rough and some intermittent showers, but not too much rain, nice rain actually.

There are still some big Kings around and a few halibut hit the dock. Only a couple pinks and chum they seem to be eluding us....

Today's Pictures!

July 19th - Fishing Report

Pretty much all the boats were fishing today and it was a hard day of fishing. As I mentioned yesterday and weather change was coming, it arrived this morning with some wind, lots of rain and colder temperatures. Several people were pretty cold by lunch time. The afternoon got a little better, rain lightened up, wind died down some and it got a little warmer.

The fish are still around but you have to work for them. The bottom fishing for halibut was real slow today with none brought to the dock. But some nice rock fish a beautiful Ling Cod and a large Yellow Eye rounded out the bottom catch. Some nice 25 plus pound kings also hit the dock a few pinks and a couple silvers rounded out the salmon catch.

Here are today's pictures:
