September 17th - Fishing Report

Foggy this morning, and a little colder, but calm winds so the fishing was pretty comfortable all day. The silvers were still a little sporadic with some boats nailing them right and left and other boats fishing right next to them having more trouble, but still getting decent fish.

Some good catch pictures today!

Snowman and Guests had a limit day - limit of silvers, limit of halibut and limit of rock fish! Great Day!

And a little crew fun - trying to determine which is the better looking - Snapper Al or a big Quillback! Think the Quillback won!

September 15th - Fishing Report

WOW - Foggy morning this morning everywhere and it didn't burn off until almost lunch time, in spite of bright sunshine. Great weather day today a little cold this morning, not chilly, but cold...then it warmed up nicely when the fog lifted and we saw bright blue skies and sunshine for the rest of the day. A little breeze at the tide turn but still nice calm fishing weather...the salmon bite was there, but it was spotty. You would get a few fish, bang, bang, bang then troll for another hour or so before they hit again.

Some nice big silvers hit the dock though as well as plenty of nice rock fish and a few halibut...it was a good day fishing!

Here are today's catch pictures!

There's Snapper Al with those big Snapper again!

September 15th Fishing Report

Good weather day today and great fishing. Calm winds, almost no rain and calm seas made for a perfect day at Yes Bay. Cooler temperatures this morning, but it warmed up nicely with the sun later in the day!

Nice batch of silvers on the doc today and a great assortment of rock fish, Snapper dug deep and found some real nice yellow eyes (Red Snapper) living up to his moniker!

Today's catch pictures!

Look at those Red Snapper!

September 14th - Fishing Report

Horrendous weather came through last night with very high winds and a ton of rain, but thankfully it blew out overnight and the morning turned out fine, a little lumpy on the boat ride out this morning but it calmed down around 10 in the morning and was fine the rest of the day...Our guests who missed Ketchikan last night due to weather and over-nighted in Sitka managed to get out to the Lodge this morning for one group and just after lunch for the rest of the guests, but still time to fish and have a good day.

Salmon bite was better in the morning but there were some nice sized ones caught later and some nice rock fish and a beautiful right on the limit line Halibut!

Here are today's catch pictures!

September 13th - Fishing Report

Severe weather most of the day today with rain, more rain and then it rained a little more...add in some wind and rough seas and you have our day. The morning was better then the afternoon with most of our boats calling it a day right after lunch, the conditions just got so bad it was hardly worth staying out there.

Still - in spite of the weather some decent sized silvers hit the dock although the majority were caught earlier in the day. Several guests scheduled to arrive today bypassed Ketchikan due to high winds and got to visit Sitka. They will be back here in the morning and we will get them out to the Lodge as soon as we can!

How about today's catch pictures!

September 12 - Fishing Report

Well the weather change arrived today right on schedule, Thankfully it was worse in Ketchikan than it was out here, but still pretty dismal out there today. Lots and Lots of rain and some pretty gusty wind this morning which made it hard to fish, but a few fish were caught this morning, but most this afternoon. Finally some nice silvers hit the dock again today, some real good sized ones, a couple over 13 pounds and one over 14!

Some extra pictures today for the bad weather and better catch!

September 11th - Fishing Report

First, being the anniversary of 9/11 be assured those of us at Yes Bay Lodge have not forgotten.

We can feel an even bigger weather change coming and it is supposed to hit tomorrow, we had rain on and off all day today, never real hard, but pretty steady, temperatures have dropped to a normal September and we had some wind out there today but still fishable pretty much every where, however, for some reason the silver salmon bite was slow...we had some nice ones hit the dock along with small halibut and some beautiful large Yellow Eyes - one topping 14 pounds and the other not far behind and a couple smaller ones as well. Bottom fishing was pretty good today with a great assortment of rock fish.

Here are today's catch pictures!

Look at the size of those two yellow eye's!

September 10th - Fishing Report

Fall is still in the air with some wind, rain and cooler temperatures. Silver fishing was still pretty good on the morning bite, but then the wind came up and it got a little rough out so most retreated to Bell in the afternoon for halibut and Kings...

Some real nice fish hit the dock today! Silvers, Kings and halibut and a few rock fish!

Today's Catch Pictures!

And a little crew and guest fishing - Heidi and friend took a day and went out with Big John!
