June 27th - Fishing Report

Weird weather day today, unusual for this early in the season for the rain fog to be so dense. It rained all day and it was socked in almost the whole day which grounded the airplanes so people leaving headed to town by boat and the people arriving tonight a large group, had to postpone their trip out to the Lodge and spend a happy evening in Ketchikan. But they will be up early and hopefully the weather will clear up a little tonight so we can fly them out early and get them fishing.

The rainy weather didn't hurt the fishing, it was pretty darn good today with quite an assortment of salmon on the dock, some nice Kings, some Chum a couple pinks and even a silver!

On to the pictures!

June 26th - Fishing Report

The wind stayed down, but the rain was all day. Never real hard, but a steady rain for virtually all day, temperature was not too bad, talthough cooler than normal and a few people were chilly by the end of the long day!

But the fishing warmed them up, with a nice assortment of Kings hitting the dock and a few chum, some nice halibut and a great assortment of rockfish!

On with the pictures!

In spite of the rainy weather a good catch was had by all at Yes Bay Lodge in SE Alaska!

June 25th Fishing Report

The weather continued on its turn from warm and sunny to cooler and rainy. Today was noticeably cooler than the past few days and there was a light drizzle of rain most of the day...

It did NOT stop the fishing with three boats out today while more guests arrived this afternoon. More boats fishing tomorrow.

Here are the pictures of today's catch!

A light day of guests allowed "Deets" - Guide Dan White to take a couple of our Lodge Crew Members for a day of boat fishing! Heidi and Eric managed a nice catch!

Slice and Guests with a nice Chum in the morning!

The afternoon brought in a couple nice Kings!

Snowman and Guests had a Bonanza of fishing on their full day expedition!

June 25th - Freshwater Recap!

Yesterday Myron (Mildred) Jemison took five minutes from his busy schedule and handed me the chip from his camera and told me there were some great shots of his recent fishing trips up the river behind the Lodge and trips to a few of the high mountain lakes he took with some guests a few days ago.

I will try to explain from his explanations a little of the experience and show a few of his amazing pictures.

June 24th - Fishing Report

Only three boats fished today with a large group leaving and only 6 guests arriving but more arrive tomorrow and the next day...we will be full again in a few days!

For the rest of the crew it was laundry day and clean up the boats and get fishing gear fixed and ready for the next full load of guests! The next couple weeks are some of our busiest of the season and time for more big Kings!

Only a couple pics from today - a few nice kings and a halibut and some rockfish!

By the way - by my count the kids out fished the folks!! Good Job Guys!

Look for more pictures in the coming days!!

Slight weather change today after yesterdays warm weather and sunny skies, today we had some wind and it was noticeably colder but only a few sprinkles of rain!

Still a fine day fishing at Yes Bay in SE Alaska!

June 23rd - Fishing Report

The day started out calm and sunny with pretty much slow fishing. There were a few fish caught in the morning and a few caught in the afternoon. The wind came up with the tide late in the afternoon for a bumpy and thrilling ride back to the Lodge.

Nothing real special today , a few Kings, a couple Chum Salmon and a few nice halibut. The big Kings were not around today...bright sunny weather sometimes drives them deep and away from feeding...

Here are today's pictures!

Another fine day of fishing at Yes Bay Lodge in SE Alaska!

June 22nd - Fishing Report

Today was a big fish day at Yes Bay Lodge with some really big Kings hitting the dock and quite a few standard sized fish as well...
It was the afternoon bite that really sparked the day. The weather was perfect all day with overcast skies, no wind and broken sunshine all day. Hot - reached 75 - 76 degrees and the fishing was just as hot!
Some real nice halibut hit the dock and a couple real big halibut were fought and released...but the two big fish of the day were King Salmon!
First a 44.4 pound King then followed closely on another boat a 42.1 pounder! Both amazing fish!!
We'll start with the pics of the big kings!
Here are the fish side by side with the lighter of the two on the scale!

Here are the two happy anglers, both did a masterful job of fighting these big fish!

The fish holding ceremony!

Now the group shots of the catch!

Now on with the rest of the pictures for today!

Tomorrow everyone will be looking for some even bigger ones for sure!
Stay Tuned!

An extra fine day of fishing at Yes Bay Lodge in SE Alaska!
