July 6th - Beautiful weather and GREAT Fishing!!

What a tremendous day we had today at Yes Bay - sunshine, warm, blue skies, flat calm seas and fish biting, who could ask for more.

Still some nice Kings around and tons of pinks and a few nice chum salmon thrown in for good measure. Add in some real nice halibut including a few 60 plus pounders a few nice yellow eye's and some nice rock fish and a good day was had by all!!

Lodge is filling up again and lots of people fishing...

Here are the pictures!!

Fine weather predicted for tomorrow, hopefully the fish will cooperate as well as they did today!!

July 5th - Great Weather today and decent fishing!

Full house change today so only a couple boats went out with guests today, most Guides spent the day helping guests get down to the planes and load fish boxes into the airplane, then clean boats, fix rigging and get ready for the next round which starts for most of us tomorrow as we had quite a few new guests arrive today!!

A couple crew boats fished today and we managed some real nice chum salmon, so it looks like they have arrived and along with pinks will be the staple of our catches over the coming weeks. There are still a few Kings around, but you will have to fish harder to find them. Of course we still have been getting some nice halibut so you can bet that will be on the agenda over the coming weeks as well.

On with the pictures from today!

And just so we don't forget who the leader is in our salmon pool for biggest King, here is our beloved dockmaster Dewey (Cutter) with the leading King Salmon at 31 pound 3 ounces!!

July 4th - Happy Independence Day!!

We spent our 4th of July with a great group of guests, trying to find some salmon that were hungry. Some did and most didn't, it was a hard day of fishing the bite never really happened. Although a couple very nice fish still hit the dock, including a beautiful 30 pound King Salmon and a very nice 63 pound plus halibut, reeled in by a very strong 12 year old!! What a great fish, almost weighed as much as he did!!

We'll the pictures off with the 30 pound King and the 63 pound halibut!!

And now the rest of the highlights for today!!

As always, you never know what you are going to see when we go out fishing, today old crooked fin the Killer Whale cruised through the Bell Island area and one of the younger whales in the pod decided to jump in the air right where we were fishing, a quick handed guest managed to capture the exact moment, what a beautiful picture it made!!

July 3rd - 2010 - Batman's Boat Hits a Home Run!!

It was a very rainy day today and tough fishing. The King bite was slow and so were most of the other salmon, although if you stuck with it long enough there was an assortment of fish to go around. With the Holiday weekend the Lodge is packed full and everyone is anticipating our annual fire works show and a great BBQ. A traditional 4th of July at Yes Bay.

Batman's boat hit the ground running today with a nice assortment of salmon in the morning, a nice king a couple nice Chum and a few pinks for the morning catch, then in the afternoon after a nice warm dry lunch he hit a real nice King and then pounded the bottom for a real nice 97 plus pound halibut!! A great catch!!

Here are the pictures to prove it!!

Morning:

Afternoon:

The rest of us had hit and miss bites all day with most all boats getting a few nice salmon, including some nice Kings and a couple silvers thrown in for good measure.

Happy 4th of July to everyone and look for fireworks pictures - weather permitting tomorrow!!

July 2nd 2010 - Tougher fishing today for most!

The weather cooperated fine today with no rain, no wind, overcast and cool, however the fishing slowed down for King salmon quite a bit, with only a couple hitting the dock today, a couple pinks and a few small halibut.

Crab Pot Surprise!! Dewey (Cutter) with a nice octopus!!

Kicker trying to see what a salmon actually looks like!!
