Sunday August 9th, 2009 – Fishing Report
Three boats went out today and although it rained all day (good thing) the fishing for salmon was a little slow, although there were limits on all the boats, it was hard work with short bites and plenty of missed fish and long pauses sometimes between bites, but they were there and a bunch of nice pinks, silvers and a few chum hit the dock this afternoon.
Axman continues his streak of halibut with a short 15 minute stop at the mouth to nail a real nice 51 pounder on his way in, so fresh it was still wiggling hanging on the hook.
All in all another great day of fishing and some welcome rain for a huge change, which should help the fishing. It has been so dry this summer, the creeks were drying up with no place for the salmon to go spawn and there was smoke in the air from a number of forest fires in Canada and other parts of Alaska. So the rain is a welcome relief from all the dry hot weather this summer!
Enjoy the pictures,
Capt. Jim
