August 24th - Fishing Report

Weather continued to hold with a little light misty rain a couple times during the day and light winds and heavy overcast. Some adventures to talk about and some nice fish were caught.

The pictures will tell most of the story!

The Kids had a great time today and a great catch, all by themselves!!

But the story of the day belongs to Snowman and crew, they were having a leisurely day fishing for Kings at Bell Island when all of a sudden the reel started pulling, the rod bent double and poor Sean thought they had managed to hook the bottom, except he knew they were in plenty of water. Lo and behold it started to move and ended up dragging the boat up and down the drift two times and after about a 2 1/2 hour struggle with an unknown behemoth, past time to come in the fight was over as the line broke, the rod broke and the reel broke...we have determined after examining the line and damage that they had been fighting what appeared to be about a 12 foot Salmon Shark. The skin of the shark frayed the line so bad that after several hours it gave way, when it did, the rod snapped back and broke the antenna on the boat. It was an Alaskan adventure to remember. Here is the happy crew showing off the broken rod!
