Update July 28th - Eagle Feed!

Beautiful day yesterday - too friggin hot - well into the high 80's and clear skies with no real breeze, so it was a hot one in E Alaska!

I was in the campground all day and worked all day but yesterday evening I took a drive looking for bears again and along side of the road in a pull off area I noticed an eagle diving on the water. I watched while driving as he hit the water and picked up a nice sockeye salmon. Obviously could not drive and take pics, so pulled over to watch him eat the salmon.

Watched for quite awhile, he was calling in another bird which never arrived...but he chowed down for about 15 minutes or so...

Here are a few pics...

There was a huge yacht anchored outside of the small boat harbor here in Haines, I captured their helicopter coming in for a landing....some people have more than others!!

The sockeye have started to arrive in decent quantities...and the bears are starting to come down and feed, just a matter of being there at the right time...just may have to go out there and sit and wait.

Stay tuned for more adventures from SE Alaska!
