June 4th & 5th!

Guests arrive this afternoon so the Lodge is all spruced up and ready to open! We are now officially on our summer schedule. Meal times, dock times and everyone seems to be ready for the season to officially start.

Yesterday May 4th - Fishing began in earnest with three boat out for the entire day! As usual we all hit the dock with a boat load of fish! No King Salmon yet but with the sunshine and blue skies we have had for the past 4 days, we don't expect them to move in quite yet, although we hope to start to see spotty fish in the next day or so!

Axman and Kicker brought in a nice 60 pound Halibut!

I spent most of the day trolling for salmon, then made a few quick halibut stops to show a couple of the new guides some spots, then headed for my special spot for large Yelloweye Snapper and big Sea Bass, Lantern Jaws and Rockfish! Just a couple drops and we had our limit - 2 nice Yelloweyes, 3 big Lantern Jaws and a nice big Quillback!

Slammer, Slice and one of the new guides worked Bell Island for salmon most of the day, then picked up a couple rockfish and headed for Yes Bay with a scheduled stop at the crack to finish their limit of rockfish! Slammer dropped his special rockfish jig down using a salmon rod and hooked into a 103 pound Halibut - needless to say on 30 pound tackle and a small rockfish jig with treble hook it took him awhile to boat the fish! But they were determined and although they arrived at the dock a little late, they had the fish in the boat!

Bunch of fish on the dock yesterday!!

Friday - May 5th! - Boats went out early this morning for another full day of fishing!! Update later with our first KING, I think today may be the day!

I will be heading to town today for some supplies and to shuttle some people into town. Local gardners are arriving with nice new plants for the greenhouse and around the Lodge, so we will be busy making things even nicer today and tomorrow.

Enjoy,

Captain Jim
