Legend of Crooked Fin!!

There is a true story around Yes Bay Lodge about a very large Orca (Killer Whale) who frequents the area every summer.

Long ago, about 30 years ago, this Orca was in the area as a young bull with a large pod of Orcas...one of the guides here (Owner of the Lodges son - Current Owners Brother) while heading out to go fishing accidentally ran into this young Orca with his boat, damaging the back fin of the whale! Eventually this young bull separated from the Pod and created his own pod of which he is the master....now 30 years later he is a very large full grown Killer with about 25 other whales in his pod.

The current owner of the Lodge, swears this whale comes back to visit the Lodge every year. Last fall just after the Lodge closed he cruised in to Yes Bay and put on a show, swimming under the dock, waving his pectoral fin and breaching right beside the dock! He always seems to come by our boats, I have seen him all three years that I have been here at the Lodge.

He has been all around the area lately and several people have managed to get some decent shots, this one was shot by Slammer the other day...

BTW - For a size reference - I guesstimate the fin on this fish is well over 7 feet tall!!
